We met a guide, at the end of the square, who accompanied us through the city center. He told us about the historical monuments of the city and their connection with the contemporary modern buildings in the English and French language. Košice is the first European city to receive its own coat of arms. Another first is connected with sports - the oldest European and second oldest world marathon - the International Peace Marathon (founded in 1924) - starts in Košice on the first Sunday of October. It is the oldest peace marathon in Europe, which in 2020 received the World Athletics Heritage Plaque for its outstanding contribution to the development of athletics.

We could admire the dominant feature of the city, the Gothic St Elizabeth's Cathedral, and the Singing Fountain right next to it.

The students were really impressed by the visit to the historical centre of Košice. They were struck  by the originality of the place, its richness and the difference from other places that they had seen before. They were acquainted with the historical centre of the city, which is the largest urban monument reservation in the Slovak Republic. They received new information about the International Peace Marathon and the great effort of the athletes to run the 42 km route.
